In line with our objective to improve
the quality and range of the medical services, IMG runs
various specialist clinics at IHK. This provides our clientele
a wide spectrum of specialised medical care. Experienced
and well known doctors run the specialist clinics on regular
basis.

Antenatal Care and Deliveries
We have a well equipped obstetric department
at International Hospital where we offer pregnant mothers
a complete maternity service. This has a delivery suite,
with two delivery rooms and a CTG (for monitoring the mother's
contractions and the baby's heart during labour), a neonatal
unit with incubators including a neonatal ventilator and
a CTG. There is also a father's waiting area, plus obstetrics
wards with ensuite bathrooms.
International Cover
We are also affiliated to Health Care International of Britain;
a specialist medical insurance company that has designed
an evacuation plan and an international travel plan suitable
for our clients in Uganda. Clients who take out these plans
will then have the services of Medex Emergency Assistance
Centres in the USA, United Kingdom, Europe and South Africa.
Rescue and Evacuation
Rescue services are provided within
Uganda by road and Air ambulance to International Hospital
where the patient is stabilised. In the case where road
evacuation is impractical air evacuation is carried out
in association with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or
AIRSERVE.
IAA has fully equipped ambulances with
Life Support machines including defibrilators, oxygen, portable
suction and ventilators. There are blood screening and bank
facilities at International Hospital, modern casualty facilities
and operating theatres as detailed above.
In Uganda, air evacuations can be carried
out from the following Airstrips in rural areas - Adjumani,
Amudat, Arua, Bundibujo, Fortportal, Gulu, Jinja, Kaabongo,
Kalongo, Kasese, Kayonza, Kidepo, Kijura, Kisoro, Kitugumu,
Koboko, Kotido, Lira, Masindi, Matanya, Mbarara, Mityana,
Moroto, Moyo, Mweya, Nebbi, Pakuba, Paraa, and Soroti.
Evacuations from Uganda to other countries
are provided in conjunction with SOS in South Africa, Flying
Doctors and Intensive Care Air Ambulance in Nairobi. IAA
can also arrange evacuation of patients to other parts of
the world and send a doctor or a nurse with the patient.
Access to Hospital Care
Patients are admitted to International
Hospital Kampala in Old Kampala - our own private hospital
that is equipped with the facilities for stabilisation,
investigation, medical and surgical treatment as necessary
for the patient.
The facilities and equipment include
two modern operating theatres, a high dependency unit (HDU)
with two beds, imaging services: x-ray (static machine with
horizontal/vertical floating table for whole body x-ray),
C arm for imaging within theatre, Ultrasonography, mammography
(Breast X-ray for cancer screening), electrocardiograph
facilities (both 12 lead ECG and Stress ECG), ECHO cardiography
and colour doppler (for detecting deep venous thrombosis).

The following specialists clinics are
available at the hospital: neurology clinic, paediatric
clinic, well baby clinic, antenatal clinic, antenatal classes,
obstetrics/ gynaecology clinic, physician's (cardiology/diabetic)
clinic, ENT, orthopaedic clinic, psychiatry clinic, physiotherapy
clinic (IHK and IAA) and dental clinic (IMC).

schemes. These are some of the services that members of
medical insurance schemes can access:
Consultations and Investigations
: These can be carried out at any of our centres.
X- rays: X-rays and scans are carried out at International
Hospital Kampala.
Drugs and medications are dispensed
from our own pharmacies at all our centres.
Members are also entitled to Immunization
and vaccination procedures that fall under the UNEPI guidelines,
i.e. BCG, OPV, DPT, HIB, HepB. Out patient Surgery is carried
out at International Hospital Kampala by our consultant
surgeons.
Maternal and pre-natal advice is available
on some of our medical schemes. We have Antenatal clinics
on specific days at IAA and IHK. Antenatal classes conducted
by the midwife are held weekly at IHK. There is also a baby
clinic at IHK and a regular paediatric clinic at IAA.
STDs and HIV opportunistic infections
are covered for members on corporate schemes. Voluntary
counseling and testing for HIV is available.
Health Education which includes sensitizing
of members about any disease out-breaks, and the prevention
of common illnesses such as Malaria, asthma, diabetes, hypertension,
heart disease, cancer and HIV through the publication of
health education leaflets.

IAA is a Health Management Organisation
that provides affordable medical insurance schemes that
cater for individuals, families and companies.
The schemes address the inevitable health
issues that occur. By having the International Hospital,
International Medical Centre and International Medical Centre
Dental as affiliates, IAA is able to provide diverse and
comprehensive services in line with it's mission "
to provide a complete medical service with compassionate
nursing, excellent patient conditions with modern equipment".
IAA works hand-in-hand with Healthcare
International. Healthcare International specialises in providing
world-wide private medical and related personal insurance.
Together we offer world-wide cover to
companies and individuals in the event that a medical emergency
arises while traveling outside Uganda. Emergency Medical
Evacuations from Uganda to either South Africa or Kenya
are arranged through MEDEX Assit, which has calling centers
around the world that can be used in case of medical emergency.
