Clinical services at IMG
Our philosophy of care is patient centered
care: highlighting excellent patient-care provider relationship,
transparent communication (patient education), safety and
comfort as priorities.
To ensure that this happens we do training
following well-worked out training modules not only for
new staff but also for old staff members in form of refresher
courses.
These modules are borne out of our experience
with the needs of the patients we have seen over the years
in our centers. Personalizing and tailoring the care we
provide to the needs of our patients.
We provide 24 hour cover by competent,
enthusiastic and hardworking medical officers with a back
up of in house specialists in medicine, surgery, pediatrics
and obstetrics and gynecology.
24 hour on call specialist cover involving
over 40 specialists, for a wide range of specialties: cardiology,
infectious diseases, internal medicine, orthopedics, neurosurgery,
pediatrics, neonatology, trauma, general surgery, gynecology,
obstetrics, radiology, anesthesia, HIV/AIDS
The nurse to patient ratios are excellent.
We boast of a 1:1 in Intensive care - high dependency situations.
Under normal circumstances, we have a 1:3 nurse to patient
ratio. However, if required we can arrange a 1:1 as well
as a 2:1 ratio for intensive care situations.
Regular continuous medical education
sessions are conducted to help our doctors keep abreast
with new developments in medicine. Unlimited internet is
available to facilitate the access to the most up to date
information resources from all over the world.
Other services available are home visits
on request, palliative care for the terminally ill in conjunction
with other providers like hospice Uganda. We also have a
fleet of ambulances that pick up patients from any accessible
site in the country. And this too could be prearranged by
including it in the insurance cover schemes or on request
as and when the need arises.
We also do arrange and carry out evacuations
of stabilized patients to centers outside Uganda for care
that is not available in Uganda.
In the city are a number of centers
providing outpatient services IAA- Kitgum house
Kampala road, IMC Kampala road,
UTL - IAA clinic Bugolobi and the outpatient
department at the hospital in Kisugu with turnover of over
250 attendances a day.
The average waiting time in the
majority of our centers is 15-20 minutes. The waiting time
for elective or cold surgery is 1 to 3 weeks.
