IHK’s A & E department is fully staffed and equipped to handle emergencies. Our A & E ensures that critically ill patients receive high quality care 24 hours a day. The Hospital is equipped to respond to heart problems, trauma, advanced cases of malaria and infectious diseases. It also has a Trauma Room set up to ensure that emergency procedures or surgical emergencies can be quickly dealt with.

The department has 6 beds and an observation bay for monitoring short-stay patients, equipped with monitors, defibrillators, oxygen and vacuum suction machines. A team of trained emergency doctors and nurses staff the Centre with support from a cardiac arrest team.

In preparation for surgery we carry out preoperative medical evaluation of each patient and consultation with the surgical team to create a plan for the anesthesia tailored to each individual patient, airway management, intraoperative life support and provision of pain control, intraoperative diagnostic stabilization, and proper post-operative management of patients.

Care for mother and unborn child is important and we ensure pregnant mothers are shown the best way to care for themselves and the unborn child, as well as preparing them for the birth.

IHK has a Consultant Cardiologist for diagnosis of heart conditions and planning for treatment. Available equipment includes 12 lead ECG, 2D color Doppler Echocardiography, Stress ECG and Holter monitoring.

Clinical Psychology.

Counseling is a therapeutic process for assisting an individual identify his/her problems and coping strategies. Our counselors offer advice based on the growth of a confidential relationship between counselor and patient. Services offered include: children, adolescent, family, crisis intervention, emergency/ disaster debriefing and health counseling services.

Our Dental Clinic runs 6 days a week, from Monday to Saturday.
The clinic runs on an appointment only model except in cases of critical emergencies. Dental procedures such as routine cleaning, filling, extraction or root canals comprise the services available at our Dental Clinic.

Nutritionist services are available for both in-patients and outpatients including nutritional assessment Planning therapeutic diets, obesity and nutritional education.

IHK operates a fleet of Ambulances equipped to respond to emergency calls.

Our endoscopy unit is equipped with modern equipment to perform Upper GI endoscopies and colonoscopies.

IHK has a team of qualified ENT specialists performing Microsurgery, Endoscopic Surgery, Head and Neck Surgery. Bronchoscopy services are also available by the same specialist.

Family medicine and primary care is designed to treat and prevent the most common and chronic illnesses. Our OPD has a team of senior General Practitioners (GPs) and Medical Officers (MOs).
Our senior GPs are ready to help with a wide range of general medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, respiratory conditions, vascular and other conditions.
We are able to provide a fully supported approach to ensure early and accurate diagnosis and treatment, whether you may be admitted as an urgent patient, or have multiple disorders, referred by your GP for investigation, or referred by other specialist services.

We have General Surgeons to undertake general surgical procedures like hernia repair, biopsies, Trauma and Emergency Surgery, GI and Hepato-biliary-pancreatic Surgery.

High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Immunization.

The seven-bed ICU provides high quality specialised care to critically ill patients. The unit is staffed by consultant cardiologists, resident doctors and nurses trained in critical care with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:1.
All ICU beds are equipped with:
- Electrocardiogrammes (ECG) to monitor blood pressure, pulse and heart rates;
- A monitor in place of a nurse call system;
- Mechanical respiratory ventilators for new-born and adult care
- Blood gases analyser;
- Syringe and volumetric pumps to administer precise and exact amounts of drugs/fluids;
- Defibrillator for resuscitation;
- Oxygen
1 High Dependency Unit (HDU)
The 4-bed HDU is for recovering intensive care and theatre or ward patients requiring constant monitoring and observation. All beds fitted with:
- Electrocardiograms (ECG) to monitor blood pressure, pulse and heart rates;
- Syringe and volumetric pumps to administer precise and exact amounts of drugs/fluids;
- Non-invasive blood pressure machines;
- Oxygen and suction machines.
- Internal Medicine
This clinic caters for patients with medical conditions such as uncomplicated hypertension, deep venous thrombosis, malaria, gastroenteritis and other non-chronic illnesses.

This is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. We provide 24 hour in-patient, emergency and intensive care services for patients, dealing with various conditions including diabetes, hypertension, infectious diseases and other serious medical conditions.

Minimal Access Surgery – Our surgeons are able to perform different types of laparoscopic surgeries including– Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Splenectomy, Myomectomy, cyst & adhesion removal and Diagnostic Laparoscopy.

We currently have two neurosurgeons at IHK managing conditions including neurological emergencies like head injury, spinal injury, brain tumors, cervical spondylosis etc. with a well equipped ICU to take care of these patients after surgery.

Our birthing rooms are fully equipped and our resident obstetrician is on hand in case complications arise to provide the best possible medical care for mother and baby.

Oncology is the diagnosis and treatment of cancers. Our resident oncologist provides specialist care for cancer patients including chemotherapy.

Optometry.

This is the branch of medicine concerned with the diagnosis and treatment musculoskeletal disorders. Our Orthopedic specialists are available for trauma surgery including limb and spine fixations, and Polytrauma management. Diagnostic and therapeutic arthroscopic services are also available at IHK.

The Children’s Centre is our out patients children’s department, with a full time pediatrician. We offer vaccinations as well as treatments. We also have a pediatric wing for inpatients providing the best possible care for your children when they are at their most vulnerable.

This Pharmacy is open 24 hours a day and is staffed by certified Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians/ Dispensers. Substantial savings have been achieved by patients by the introduction of NDA-registered generic drugs.

Located at the Forest Mall at the Lugogo by-pass, the IMG Lugogo Pharmacy is well-stocked with branded and generic drugs. Our stock also includes other products like toiletries, sanitary and health supplementary products.

Physician.

Our team of Physiotherapists are there to help in rehabilitation and recovery, using physical exercises and manipulations to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

We have two plastic surgery clinics that run at IHK every week where the plastic surgeon plans a variety of plastic surgeries.

Psychiatric outpatient reviews are available by a visiting psychiatrist on appointment. Counseling, Behaviour therapy and Psychotherapy services are offered by our experienced clinical psychologists. Alcohol and drug de-addiction services are planned in the psychiatric clinic.

The Hospital has invested in specialised equipment to enhance Radiology services, and provides a comprehensive range of imaging services, including routine and specialised procedures. Services available include:
