Yes you urgently do. It is important for any given person to have a form of medical Insurance. The reason is simple-medical emergencies are costly/expensive. If you had a medical emergency with no medical insurance, it is easy to find yourself with a crippling amount of medical debt. Small medical cases could also turn out to be big ones. When you do not have insurance you avoid going in and getting treated for the little things, which can escalate into bigger things quickly. Health insurance is not a luxury; it is a necessity.

One should consider a couple of key elements prior to choosing a medical cover that suits one’s medical needs. Convenience, proximity and number of medical outlets, good customer service, and affordability are salient issues to consider before appending your signature on any medical cover. IAA medical covers are the best suited for any person. They are tailored to suit persons of all categories i.e. ranging from individual/personal covers to company/entire corporate covers.

A pre-existing condition as a "medical condition that occurred before a program of health benefits went into effect." A pre-existing condition can be something as common and as serious as heart disease, hay fever, high blood pressure, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and asthma – chronic health problems that affect a large portion of the population.

A pre-existing condition is a medical condition that existed before you obtained health insurance. Pre-existing conditions are usually chronic and often costly conditions such as: diabetes, heart problems, mental illness, asthma, COPD, Hemophilia, Epilepsy, Chronic Infections, an injury which occurred prior to coverage, multiple sclerosis, certain allergies, certain skin conditions.

Clients are required to pay at medical centers for a number of reasons, but are not limited to the following:

  • visiting a center for a condition not provided for under the IAA medical scheme
  • visiting a centre that is not on our panel of service providers
  • visiting a provider without a referral note from IAA doctor/medical personnel.

No, you do not get a refund.

IAA boast of a number of international medical centers in Kampala i.e. at Kitgum house, Watoto church, Kololo, a well equipped state of the art hospital at Namuwongo and a number of affiliate clinics (101) all over the country. IAA also has a specialist team ranging from dentists, ENT, Gynae to a specialized ICU team. These are seen on appointment and are the best in the country.

There is an acute shortage of specialists in the country and as such they are shared and as such they run clinics on specific days only hence the need for an appointment.

Services will be received on presentation of a Valid IAA card, If cards are not made, then you can present your company I.Ds.

IAA has 80 Affiliate Health Service providers, based in all the major towns of Uganda. So you can access services in these centers.

IAA and IHK are in a way different. IHK is a service provider and it does not mean that for everything they offer, IAA will cover.

IAA does not give re-eimbursements, but instead you are allowed to replace that member with someone else without payment.

A member can only be replaced once. Meaning someone who was a replacement can not be replaced within the same year

A referal will be given after assement from the director clinical services at IHK.
Referals are only given for medical reasons

  1. You can access services at IHK and in all the IMC clinics both in Kampala and out of kampala.
  2. A list of affliate clinics is also provided to your HR office and you can go to any centres listed and you will be able access treatment for as long as you have an IAA card and appear on the lists too.

This only applies to new people who in most cases are reffered to as addition. We like you to give us 24 hrs so that period of time, we are able to add the people into the system

Rescue services are provided within Uganda by road and Air ambulance to International Hospital where the patient is stabilised. In the case where road evacuation is impractical air evacuation is carried out in association with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or AIRSERVE.
